How a Momma Can Abide

…be constant in prayer.
ROMANS 12:12

How can a Momma press into Him when the day is pressing in on her?
Hear Spirit’s whisper in the wild whirl?
Stay intwined when she’s all but unwound?

I’m asking.
HE’s answering.
Not all at once.
Little by little.
Such grace…

Open blinds and curtains to morning sun.
Whisper thanks that He is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.
(1 John 1:5)

Pour coffee and pack lunches.
Pray that we will labor today with the energy that GOD provides.
(1 Peter 4:11)

Fill bottles and sippy cups.
Plead for little ones to crave the pure spiritual milk of the Word.
(1 Peter 2:2)

Scrub grass and ketchup and ink.
Thank Him that though our sins were as scarlet, they are whiter than snow.
(Isaiah 1:18)

Core apples. Wash berries.
Pray for faith to abide and bear fruit.
(John 15:4-5)

Fold, sort, put away.
Pray that my family would be clothed in garments of salvation and robes of righteousness.
(Isaiah 61:10)

Wrestle squirmy littles into playclothes and pajamas.
Teach them to put on the armor of God.
(Ephesians 6:10-19)

Cut PB&J and the Word into child-size portions and serve them together with joy.
(Matthew 4:4)

Blend, whip, whisk.
Pray that we will stir one another on to love and good deeds.
(Hebrews 10:23-25)

Scrub. Lather. Rinse.
Thank Him that we have been washed clean and can now draw near.
(Hebrews 10:21-23)

Polish pearly whites – big and little.
Pray for clean speech that gives grace.
(Ephesians 4:29)

Sink into the pillow at day’s end.
Thank Him that He neither sleeps nor slumbers.
(Psalm 121:3-5)

Gradually this new rhythm is taking root and taking over and I am taken in by the One who put on skin and suffered so I can press into all His holiness at the kitchen sink. Amazing.
