The Gospel: What I Believe

I believe the Scriptures (both the Old and New Testaments) are God-breathed, inerrant, and infallible.

I believe there is only one God, Yahweh, maker of heaven and earth.

I believe that he created man in his image, to glorify him and enjoy him forever.

I believe that sin entered the world through the first man, Adam, and that every person descending from him was/is born totally depraved and alienated from holy God.

I believe that man is utterly lost and alienated from God, unable to reconcile himself to (make peace with) God.

I believe in God’s son, Jesus Christ – that he was born of the virgin Mary, that though tempted, he lived a perfect, sinless life on earth. I believe that he died a cruel death on a Roman cross to satisfy the wrath of God by taking on the punishment for the sin of all mankind, past, present, and future.

I believe that three days later, he was resurrected victoriously from the dead and that he appeared to many before he ascended into Heaven, where he now sits at the right hand of God.

I believe that man can be forgiven of his sin, reconciled to (accepted by God), and given the promise of everlasting life by repenting of (turning away from) his sin, and trusting by faith in the finished work of Jesus’ life, death, burial, and resurrection.

I believe that those who have trusted in Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit to indwell and seal them until the day of Jesus’ return.

I believe Jesus will one day return to judge the living and the dead.

I believe those who have trusted, by faith, in the work Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins will live forever in the presence of God.
